To be fair, there are plenty of awesome musicians like Alter Bridge around today, but they hardly get any recognition because sheeple flock to the popular stuff.
@FunnyPics Waiter, I can confirm this. Although I don't like MJ my sister didn't even know he existed until he died, she was 13 then
@FunnyPics Waiter, thank you for putting my thoughts into words. I love the classic stuff of the decades. But there are plenty of not so popping artists which I consider classics 🎧👍🏽
@FunnyPics Waiter, To be fair-er, some of the "popular" stuff can be pretty good, as well. Arctic Monkeys are definitely pretty popular, but I don't see why that would decrease their talent in any way. They're a great rock band, if that's the sort of music you're in to.
@FunnyPics Waiter, I like 60s 70s and 80s and have found multiple barley known bands like slothrust, FIDLAR and have even found artic monkeys enjoyable...
@FunnyPics Waiter, like disturbed, FFDP, and more
@That Brony You Hate, not to mention Trivium and Killswitch Engage
@FunnyPics Waiter, We live in an era in which things become more popular the more different or weird they are or the more shock value they have. "Bad publicity is still publicity." Those who actually get into the trends are either weird themselves, or they just think, 'popular=good.'
@FunnyPics Waiter, ah yes killswitchengade, also like celldweller if anyone has heard oh them
@FunnyPics Waiter, seen em live last year it was fantastic
@FunnyPics Waiter, bands that don't get any recognition today would be bands in the pop punk genre. But that's okay because most people wouldn't be able to handle the amazing sound of bands like the story so far, knuckle puck, or real friends.
@FunnyPics Waiter, Alter Bridge is my fvcking jam! It makes me so damn happy that you mentioned them
@FunnyPics Waiter, yeah man, it's a conspiracy! Down with corporate America!
Seems like we skipped 10 years.
@Maxed Red, I notice that people tend to group the 2000's and 2010's together.
You skipped a decade
I hate people who say things like "I was born in the wrong generation" and "am I the only one who listens to 80's music". It just shows how lazy of an a$$hole you are by judging "today's music" as Justin Bieber and Iggy and sh*t showing you don't want to search for music. You're criticizing the top of the iceberg of music, when there are some really talented artists that you choose to ignore. If you listen to old music and prefer it, that's chill too, I'm the same way, just don't go around shoving your taste of music down other people's throats trying to prove that your taste makes you better or something. Sorry, just had to get that out there. Hail Papa Franku
@Jerry McGhoulberry, Justin Beiber and Iggy the "Top of the Iceberg of music"? Now I know why the titanic sank! But really, I was born in the wrong generation. Am I the only person who listens to 80's music?
@Jerry McGhoulberry, 40 years from now, a teenage girl will be crying with ugg boots, a starbucks sleeve she bought from ebay, and holding a Justin bieber poster saying she wishes she was born in the 00s
@Redwidowz, don't forget how hipster she is by typing all of her papers on a 2013 Mac Book Air
don't forget hip-hop in the 90's. Tupac, Biggie, Dre, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Ice Cube, Nate Dogg, among others
@D0N RAM0N, does 99 count? You know, the white one.
@Riley11Richard, most of his work is after 2000 though
@D0N RAM0N, Some of the people you mentioned have more music in the 2000's (even though most started to get bad around 2009). I know there is still a huge difference, but he did begin in the 90's
@Riley11Richard, true, I think his best work is after 2000 though
@D0N RAM0N, dude. Biz Markie and Eminem.
@D0N RAM0N, Don't forget Nas, he had arguably the best rap album of all time.
There's still awesome metal out there. Sometimes the best stuff in art isn't what's being stuffed down your throat....
Blue October, Cage the Elephant, Arctic Monkeys, Banks, The Neighborhood, The National, Alt J, Alabama Shakes, Fitz & the Tantrums, The Killers, Interpol, Modest Mouse has a new album out....b!tch there is plenty of awesome music out there.
@SimonPetrikov, Florence + the Machine, The Black Keys, Bon Iver, Kings Of Leon, The Kills, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Queens of the Stone Age. I'd have more in there, but you sorta beat me to the punch with The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Interpol, Cage the Elephant, and Modest Mouse (so happy to get to include them in a list of current bands). People complain way too much about music these days. You don't even have to look too far to find them. They're everywhere, people just focus too much on the pop crap to be able to appreciate them. (btw, you have FANTASTIC taste in music, so glad to see it)
@therutabagaclub, You as well my friend!
Because the 60's through 90's didnt have ANY bad bands whatsoever, seems legit
Dad rock lover detected. But seriously though, it's OK to not like the music put out today but it's also OK to like. Just because the music doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean it isn't good or others shouldn't like it. Here's a thought, if you don't like Justin Bieber, then change the radio station
Through the 60's and 90's they used instruments. Now they use computers and autotune.
@reidh11, don't hate on the Synth's man! (Autotune is still stupid though)
@Manny Machado, though really a synth is still played by a person, at least the older ones.
Ah yes, shaming people for what their opinion is...sounds a little familiar....what do you think Anne?
@Awakan, Anne doesn't give a shjt about your thoughts...just kidding I'm sure Anne actually cares about you greatly.
The good ol' 90s.
Thank gosh people have taste. Delicious delicious taste in music
Shaming people for their music choices? No good.
Hey, this generation has Ninja Sex Party, so that's something
God, I've commented on this pic too many times. I should be kept away from music discussions, because I get really carried away. But I just really needed to say how desperately I miss Oasis.
@therutabagaclub, Me too. Anyway, here's Wonderwall...
To be fair, the 90s had everything better.
I feel like there should be a 2000's section. Music now and music from 10 years ago has changed a lot and it's not represented here. Also yeah there's other music now that's good.
twenty-one pilots. They will change your opinion of music.
@flywithjacob, I'm not too big a fan of theirs, but I feel like them and The 1975 and other bands of the same like get really bad raps in the music world. They sort of get written off as indie try-hards, which they're totally not. It really frustrates me when people diss them because they think they're hipster "posers". Pisses me off.
I can't believe we are still using rage faces.
metallica still exists trust me
Give it 30 years and see if it has staying power
Pearl Jams music is the equivalent of scraping on a chalk board.
*cocks gun* am I the only one around here who doesn't like music from before the '90s?
The late 00's had Linkin Park, they were pretty awesome. Pretty sure we have a lot of good bands nowadays, I mainly prefer Icon For Hire.
Idk why the Jonas Brothers are there... they're awesome
I'm not sure it's exactly fair to compare such different genres of music.
Le wrong era XD
Have we become the old-stuckup traditional people that "only listen to the classics" rather than encourage new music so long as it is tasteful?
But.... I really like lmfao
It's the 10s where are the 00s
Simple explanation. The crap music of yesteryear disappeared into the cracks. The day will come when only the very best of today's music is remembered, and they'll complain about how the current music is crap.
Watch the Filthy Frank video called "Born In The Wrong Generation."
When was MCR made I can't remember
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
You can't say rock music from the past is better than today's pop music. And you also forgot about the 40's and 50's which had in my option some great music.
What about Daft Punk. They're modern.
Whoa whoa whoa, how could you not like LMFAO did you see the video where they all wiggled their dicks? That was a masterpiece
Let me name some bands that are, in my opinion, good: JET, Imagine Dragons, and select Blink-182 songs
looks like I'm still stuck in the 90s then
deadmau5 is a god. And there are plenty of other good musicians today. Just don't get recognition
HOLY FVCK THIS SCREAMS /R/LEWRONGGENERATION.
Strokes, vampire weekend, two door cinema club, Phoenix, alt j, and many more. I do recommend!
Some of the new music is good. Most of us just don't like it because it wasn't made for us.
