Next year 11.5 million people get to celebrate back home in Mexico.
@Pete Zaroll, mexicans do not celebrate this AMERICAN holiday.
@Pete Zaroll, Yeah, most Americans don't realize that Cinco de Mayo isn't really celebrated in Mexico. Most people think it's Mexican Independence Day, but that's on September 16. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla, in which the Mexican army defeated the invading French. It's really only celebrated in the state of Puebla.
@CriTiKa1, I know, just making a joke.
@Pete Zaroll, lol what a great year that will be!
@Pete Zaroll, I don't know what I'm gonna do with all the space in my local Walmart which is usually occupied by 80% Hispanic people.
@CriTiKa1, I just had a great party sounding name... So America uses it as an excuse to drink tequila.
Cinco de Mayo is one of the few Mexican holidays that is also widely celebrated by Americans. Most don't even know what it means. Just like most don't know other holidays like saint patrick's day, which is actually a religious holiday to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland. Most use both as an excuse to drink and act dumb in public. 🐸☕ But that's none of my business.
@tha5th, sir or ma'am, that is not tea
@tha5th, cinco de mayo is not a mexican holiday. Its simply a battle that was won by the mexican people versus france. Needless to say, a year later france came back and demolished them. Mexican independence day is in september. Cinco de mayo was created by big business so everyone can spend more money, much like the wedding ring and mothers day (enhancement of that is). #TheMoreUKnow
@tha5th, Cinco de mayo is an American holiday. Only one state in Mexico, Puebla, celebrates that battle that happened there.
But I want the Mexicans here. I need them.
@poopnuggets, *racist comment about Mexicans doing manual labor*
@PeppyHare, more like MANUEL labor jajaja
@poopnuggets, Thank you, we will be with you...
So the 5th of May is cancelled next year?
@Scarlet Pumpernickel, Don't worry, we've still got Revenge of the Fifth.
Whatever he's eating looks pretty good. Looks like an edible taco bowl
Yeah because Mexicans celebrate cinco de mayo, dumbass
It's phase two of the trump initiative that really gets me excited. After we make Mexico build our wall, it involves we still have them make all our food and serve us in kiosk/bars we build on top of the fence. "Initiating phase one..."
Interestingly enough very few people in Mexico actually celebrate Cinco de Mayo. It is actually a celebration of a battle victory in a war that Mexico lost 🐸☕️
But think about the mexicans who have grown accustomed to celebrating Cinco de Mayo here in America. I'm sure they'd still want to whether they're in Puebla or not.
When you move to America from the north of Mexico and see all the fuss about cinco de Mayo, it is very confusing. We don't celebrate it. Puebla does.
If you don't celebrate dia de Los angelitos, don't celebrate cinco de mayo. The public doesn't need another excuse to see you drunk.
