@jpg, octopus comes from a Greek word so octopuses is actually correct. -I pluralizations are a Latin thing
@Leprechaun Giant, o
@Leprechaun Giant, beat me to it :D
@Leprechaun Giant, while you are correct that the word Octopus is of Greek origin, the pluralization “octopuses” actually comes from English. Originally, the plural was octopi. However, when etymologists realized that it wasn’t a Latin root word, they corrected the pluralization to “octopuses.” But they were technically wrong to do that as well because Greek words are pluralized using “-odes” thus creating the third pluralization octopodes (pronounced Ock-top-O-deez). All three are now considered correct plural forms. I know this because I am a human and not an octopus that stole an iPhone.
