My friend was trying to say how the iPhone X was so cool after watching its reveal video. I admit he they are 'nice' products, but at the same time they're just like shiny stones- look and feel good but shīt. He was saying that it was released with a better display than the Samsung phone and better camera, ram etc. I looked up the specs, and told him that Samsung was the owner of the display, and he was like "oh I guess it's just brighter cause that's what they said" and then he boasted about the 12 mega pixel camera and its the same on pixel/Galaxy 8 , and he was just like "oh the app is better then". Honestly, what is up with these people?
Edit: He also said there was this "new face recognition feature that hadn't been seen before"... When I corrected him: "Oh apple just will do it better then"
Edit 2: He was also boasting about the touch center like it was new tech. The iPhone 7 had it... The Samsung 8 and Pixels have it..
@Tentastic, Iphone does have an easier UI to use and such...but that is just plain ignorance right there..
@Tentastic, so many things make Android so unique. Like all the Malware for example. Most droid phones are so easily plagued by malware these days that they should be like bubble boy.
@Cobaltqube, You're right. We should all switch to linux. Also the only people with sensitive info use Android, if people really carded about apple users they could just hack into apple to get all their info.
@Cobaltqube, what do you expect, malware makers aren't making malware for something with less than 15% of the market share. Not a big enough pool to troll.
@Couch Ornament, I'm also thinking about their really weird screen gesture features, like swipe up from bottom if you want home. But swipe up halfway if you want settings. Swipe from top if you want other settings. Swipe from upper right if you want etc. And they're calling it new when you could have gestures with custom Android launcher, cause Android isn't an asshole
@Couch Ornament, Maybe that's why my company gives us all Windows phones? No one makes apps for them, so I doubt they bother making malware either! 😕
@Tentastic, found an interesting article on Forbes about the X:
For $1149.99, it doesn't come with a lightning charger. That is $49-$79 additional... but wait, you need a lightning cord, because that's JUST the wall plug. Tac on another $25-$35 depending on length. Want to listen to music while you work? $79 (est.) More. Want to expand your memory from 256gb to 320? Too fvckin bad bc you can't. For the price of the just X phone by itself, I can get a S8, wireless lightning charger, a case, and a 256gb memory card. Oh and it's specs are better and it's been out long enough to get most of the bugs fixed.
I'm not fangirling. These are literal facts.
@Tentastic, the real question is, who really cares? On either side? He's sitting there rationalizing all these specs and whittling down information for why his choice of phone is superior to the other, but missing the whole point that it's literally just his preference to use it. Same with android users. Everyone tries to "prove" their phone is better, but why does it matter? It's like the console wars. Stop putting so much worth into the graphical capabilities of the consoles, because while you're arguing about which one has the best resolution capabilities, actual video games are getting worse and worse, because we're all missing the point.
@Berntley, I get what you're saying. I pity the people who fall for these marketing strategies by believing false info and waste their money on items ($999+) simply because they're sheep. However, I do complement apples ability to make their products easy to use. At the same time, I feel that just goes to show theyre intentionally making products for stupid people because those are the people who believe their claims and go for the products that look nice- I mean, there were iPhone commercials where their product was just rotating on screen and no info was given. Then again, people don't care about what something does. They care about the appearance they give off, and apparently owning an iPhone is 'cool'.
@Tentastic, the cheaper phones use android and the manufacturer doesn't care enough to warrant security in the OS for its users. If you buy an expensive droid or a cheap one. Same weak OS. No difference sadly, like holding back the ocean with a chain link fence. Very sad.
@Cobaltqube, At the same time it's not like you can't protect yourself from it by being smart about how you connect and handle your phone. It's not like your phone can develop a virus all by itself, it's the users actions that cause the virus. There are also apps that defend against it
Edit: and steps you can take to protect yourself against it.
@Tentastic, android could be a very good OS but there is too much variety in HW and not enough concern about available apps and their security for end users. Google play store, malware in apps, 20 plus million users infected. Fracking scary IMO.
@Not him again, Or, I could replace the battery in my iPhone 6, buy an awesome camera and a plane ticket somewhere worth taking pictures of. Not sure exactly what that'd cost, but it's probably less than the iPhone X!
@Cobaltqube, Would this be a bad time to say that of all the GUIs I've tried on different phones, my favourite is the Windows one. It's simple, clean, adaptable and customisable in ways that iOS and Android just aren't.
It's just unfortunate that the handsets aren't great and there are basically zero apps for it or reasons to get it as anything other than a business phone.
@Nellybert , You'd probably be charged $150 for the service from the Apple store, and then another $150 for the battery.
@Nellybert , agreed. I have had a Windows phone it was pretty cool actually. Hopefully there will be a 10 one soon that is worthy. Like an actual Surface phone.
@Tentastic, android's strength is bringing new fledgling features to market and allowing extreme customization and modification. Also they're the bleeding edge of hardware in the mobile phone market, easily driving the research.
Apples strength is fully working out features so they're more than fun gimmicks before releasing them and making weaker hardware outperform stronger platforms with their control over hardware and software. Which then drives competitors to advance hardware to outpace them.
Android will always have new features first, they won't always be fully functional but they'll be the first to market with them even if they end up never coming back again.
@Tentastic, I feel like you just got a taste of what people with iPhones have to hear from android users....
@EpicFailuser, at the same time there's a picture comparing the iPhone to Android S6. All specs are almost the same, with the S6 above in several. What people are calling the OS is just the UI, simple with not a whole lot of customization, along with several ornaments that make it seem better than Android. People who know how to use Android can take advantage of these qualities to be more productive- the only thing apple has is its ease of use for and between apple only products. So in a way, the only reason apple has been able to do the above is because it's a simpler OS, only able to handle what was hardcoded into it and only handle what else conforms with apple products. Android allows more utilization of it's features.
@Tentastic, fair point, Having used and android before, I enjoyed the personalization of the phone. It allowed for different things, from a display that matched my mood at that time, to shortcuts that allowed for me to reach different parts of the phone easier or in a way that I liked. Also the fact I could download music directly and not have to go through the music store or a computer was a big plus. However, the singularity that is an iPhone has made such a name for itself that some companies choose to cater to the UI of apple devices to seem "higher tech" or "Better quality". The popularity of a single type of phone has allowed Apple to almost monopolize the smart phone industry. The massive amount of money coming in has opened opportunity to create phones that
Unless they are making the really small parts, Every product in the world is like this.
@iOS10, I have heard that they all have small parts in Asia
@iOS10, foxcon who assemblies and build some components also makes Xbox and PS4s. No one makes all the hardware themselves, they will design and have specification to be met but it's easier to let a company who specializes in those parts do it.
@Lastmanonearth, this is the kind of jokes I want, not a war of phones
When they release. Go to the Apple store and put an iPhone 7 face as the lock screen. People will be pushing on the front where the home button is thinking it has one.
@Seohn, you, I like you
@shocking60, Back in high school I would occasionally highlight everything on the desktop of the old Mac computers. It was funny to watch my friends click on one of the items highlighted only to have everything open up. The older Mac computers would do this. My current PC is a custom build gaming system with Windows 10 so I don't know if the newer Apple computers still have this problem.
Of course theres always the classic screenshot of the desktop set as the wallpaper. Then hide all of the desktop icons.
BUT it's sooo Shiny!!!
Except that's not how pregnancy works.
@Melllvar, How cum?
@Melllvar, just went right over your head, didn't it?
@superjulimaximo, "Nothing goes over my head. I would catch it." -Drax the Destroyer
@superjulimaximo, I simply noticed a lack of "that's not how ________ works" comment, so i thought I would do the honors.
So you would have to buy 5 different phones instead of one iPhone with all of the things
dude weed lmao
Hey! I'm worse than an iPhone.
