*insert wreck it Ralph meme; Just because he is bad guy, does not mean he is bad guy*
Honest man Juan
So I'm supposed to write a paper on the Aeneid using any topic I want as long as it's interpretive. Only I can't think of anything. Any of you English peeps out there willing to help me find a good topic?
@CallMeDisappointment, Sounds like you Aeneid assistance
*ba dum tss*
@Good Guy Satan, That doesn't help me but the pun was really
@CallMeDisappointment, that prompt is a little confusing. It has to be about the Aeneid but you can pick any part of it you want to write about? Also what level are you writing for? i.e., high school, low level college, high level college, etc. I have an English minor and majored in history and anthropology so I’d be happy to help you out
@Silver6456, Yes, I have to pick a topic like "What was the purpose of Dido's death?" or something of the sort. And I'm writing it as just a freshman in college. I'm in an Honors English program and I've never been very good at writing analytical papers. I'm a good writer I'm just not good at those kinds of papers. It might seem trivial but I really want to do well in the course.
@CallMeDisappointment, you have a lot of material to pick from, so that’s a good start. I haven’t read the Aeneid but from what I know you could analyze Virgil attempting to compete with the works of Homer. Compare how similar characters and locations show up in both epics and how they’re treated. Or, you can just focus on the Aeneid and talk about how a hero embodies the concepts of a hero at that time, and how it has changed (if at all) to today
@Silver6456, I could work with that. It's a short paper, the minimum is 650 words. My problem is a) focusing on one topic and b) picking a topic to focus on. My brain gets distracted by shiny things and birds which makes it super difficult. But I like both of those. My professor really wants us to focus on solely the text (though not necessary) and bring in a lot of evidence to support the idea. But your suggestions are good, and it gives me a start. Thanks! :) I like English, but only the grammar and language part, which was why I didn't major in it (lol).
@CallMeDisappointment, sure thing! And if you aren’t required to use outside texts to support an argument then that makes it a lot easier. 650 words is like 2 1/2 pages so I’m guessing your professor isn’t expecting a super deep analysis. Good luck!
@Silver6456, Do you think talking about the Aeneid as political propaganda would be a good topic?
@CallMeDisappointment, sorry for the delay, I just checked back. That could be a very good topic! Stories are often used as a way to justify the treatment of others or to claim that one group has a right where the other does not. I want to say the Aeneid has a bit on the origin of an area, so that’s a good place to start
@Silver6456, It's fine! I have about 20 more words to go. I've already cried so I guess im doing something right lol. It's not due until midnight tonight so I have time.
@CallMeDisappointment, Continuing from my other answer, US propaganda posters from world war 1 would be a great subject to compare the Aeneid to. It often shows the people of the enemy country as sub human monsters while the American is a strong/handsome man fighting back
@Silver6456, Oh, that's good! I can make my final body paragraph about that and exceed my word limit. Thank you!
@CallMeDisappointment, sure thing, and good luck!
May be unpopular, But theft is theft
So what terrible things has he done that everyone is overlooking?
Just curious. If he's a saint I'll accept that too.
@ThePandaPool , I mean it's more than likely he has killed someone and continued the corrupt money and drug influence in the Brazilian govt
@ThePandaPool , yeah I doubt he’s a good guy at all. Drug dealers do this kind of stuff for the community they live in so the people will protect them from police. They’re still selling poison to people and killing them, so as happy as I am for those people to get treatment I don’t think he’s a good guy
@Silver6456, cant sell drugs to the community if there is no community
Great, now the whole community has autism.
