Animal crossing on the switch is great! For these very reasons
They need to make Nintendo games less basic for those of us that have nostalgia for the original. Improve them dont give the same product with slightly improved graphics. Mario party is terrible on the switch, mariokart is basic as fvck and so is smash (the imbalance of the new characters is terrible, hero and Robin specifically) no update for samus huh? She was the best and now is worse than mii gunner. What is Nintendo trying to advertise to? I'd actually like my money back for smash. Not because I have a bad online record I actually have 6million on 4 characters which is alright i usually win but still the balance is the worst. Making a kids game has taken presidence over making a good game.
@Runnin with scissors, smash has never been designed to be a competitive fighter. From the beginning it was designed as a fun party game where people could have their favorite video game characters beat the crap out of each other. Agree with you on Mario party on switch though. Wife and I got bored of that after just a few days.
@WhoseLineIsItAnyway, the problem with smash is they downgraded its story mode while increasing character imbalance. I've played samus since the n64 always been my favorite despite the hate. I dont spam I typically rely more on combos but giving mii gunner the same abilities plus a reflect, adding a reflect to every new character, and never upgrading and also nerfing samus is bullshjt. Look it up on the game boards they destroyed the balance. It's like playing bowser or Mario in mario party rather than mario. They just have better dice and that's simple math.
@Runnin with scissors, as the comedy show already said, Smash was *never* a balanced fighting game. In 64, Pikachu was undoubtedly the best character, Melee has Fox and Falco, Brawl has fvcking Meta Knight, and Sm4sh had Bayonetta and Cloud. It is a party game first and foremost, and balance has always been an "issue" (which the competitive scene honestly "solves" by only using the better characters). As for Mario Party... Nintendo actually doesn't make it, they're just the publisher.
Also, you're original post doesn't make much sense in the context of the post. Animal Crossing: New Horizons sets itself apart from the other games by having its crafting system, further control over your landscape, and the plane to take ya to smaller locations for random materials based on where you end up. Whether or not you like how it was changed doesn't influence the fact that it was, for better or worse. They still kept the core of the game very simplistic, but would it be AC if they didn't?
@Runnin with scissors, hero and Robin unbalanced? Like they're too good, is that what you're saying? Because every tier list would like to disagree with you on that part. As for samus she got a really good buff 2 patches ago and currently is ranked in the top half of mid tier (which isn't bad). Honestly it might not be the character's fault maybe you just have a trouble adapting to their playstyles. My inkling is in elite smash And I have a buddy who whoops my a$$ with his Samus
@Runnin with scissors, I love the new Mario party. Idk if you're playing by yourself and that's why it's boring, but I still love playing it with friends. Also, I don't play competitively or give a crap about meta, but I kick butt as Samus against my family, friends, and CPUs
@TheStarHawk, I managed to beat the animal crossing and create a 5 star island in less than 2 weeks while attending school and working, so less than 50 hrs of playing... Basically the game is like playing any other game on the lowest difficulty. I get the premise of animal crossing but are you arguing that they couldnt have done better? I payed $60 for that garbage I haven't played since. Maybe it is just me but maybe Nintendo should make a good game for all ages.
@TheStarHawk, Also to be clear people often complain about samus being nerfed on leader boards regardless of the basic improvements she is worse than mii fighter from any advanced gamer perspective. She has no reflect and lacks air superiority or ground superiority. Instead her down B gives a useless mine while mii fighter gets a reflect. Attack power ain't shjt if you use reflects correctly. My best character is zelda after using only her B for around 50 games. I've played samus since the n64 release. Stfu.
@MeddlingKid, nah I played with 3 friends. I did play a lot but it's just so much worse than older games of mario party. Once your profile reaches master they almost only allow mini games that highly favor NPCs rather than focusing on a balance. it also becomes important to start first to win allies.
I still mostly win as samus but I suggest you try a custom mii gunner or hero because you will crush more than you possibly could with samus. Also I play semi competitive and online samus is trash because 90% the maps turn out to be final destination which favors short range characters. I'm 50/50 playing samus against my best friend but still.
How is this funny?
