By request... an attempt at a Dr. Lazarus meme
I'll settle this before it starts.
1.) He is right a about the infrastructure and debt.
2.) This was a fvcking shjtty time/place to mention it.
3.) We are doing everything in our power to help them out, but they must work with us.
There, did I miss something?
@Smo Queed, no you pretty much got it. You should send that to CNN and the New York Times too
@WelI Obviously, yeah they'll take the hint this time around maybe
@Smo Queed, rational and logical. Thumbs up
@Smo Queed, You missed that puerto rico is an island. Surrounded by water. Big water, ocean water
@Smo Queed, Also, Trump denied the general in charge of the relief effort’s request for more personnel and supplies, Texas and Florida’s debts are several times larger than Puerto Rico’s, Puerto Rico’s infrastructure is old because, according to laws regarding territories/ non-state US entities, they can’t receive shipments from other countries, they have to petition congress for software and hardware updates to their systems, and congress has denied every request in the past 20-some years, and they can’t pay off their debt because any money made in taxes above a certain point is seized by the federal government AND business owners who fail in Puerto Rico are protected from paying back their loans by going to the mainland.
@UmActually, so basically Puerto Rico is in a horrifying situation that the current president cannot manage
@LeafOnTheW1nd, I’d say there is very little that can be done unless major change is an acted. The problem is, this is not seen as a problem until there is an emergency such as this. However, the current president is Miss handling the situation by denying requests by Puerto Rico to make the situation better, and traveling to Puerto Rico and bad mouthing the politicians who waded through flood water with a bull horn, going into submerged buildings looking for survivors. i’m not saying it is his fault, obviously. I didn’t blame Bush for Katrina, Obama for Sandy, but this has been handled poorly by the White House, simply due to their current stance of reluctance in helping Puerto Rico.
@WelI Obviously, I which I could upvote you twice
@Dimir FTW, but what about the paper towels? Why was that done?
This is a legit question.
@WelI Obviously, I wish I could upvote you twice
I see no problem here
I talked to my friend with family in Puerto Rico. She's not obviously happy with how Trump is talking about them, but her family is getting what they need.
