I hate when people do this and then complain about how poor they are when they lack basic budgeting. I have friends who waste money on frivolous stuff and then wonder why they don't have any money. Honestly that's one of the main reasons I hate my generation, I see this way more often than I should.
@RamenNinja, I have 2 friends who both smoke tons of weed and always complain about being broke, yet when I bring up "Hey, maybe don't smoke weed?" they get super defensive and say i only say that because I don't smoke it. I dont have a problem with recreational use, but if you're working paycheck to paycheck maybe spending $100 every couple weeks on weed isn't the best idea
@theshadosnipe, tell them to save money and buy reggie
@Your Darkest Secret, what's reggie?
@RamenNinja, not sure what generation you are but bad budgeting and overall idiotic money use is not age limited. My parents were absolutely horrible with money. Me and my Partner, not so much because we learned from the previous generation.
@MetalHeadTony, yeah I'm in college right now so it's incredibly hard to watch these people. And even my brother who is 8 years older than me, works an amazing well paying job, goes on all these trips and buys all sorts of stuff then is so upset he can't afford to buy a house. Asking for money. I just feel like people can't make sacrifices anymore
@RamenNinja, I have a friend that eats very unhealthy and blames it on the fact he can't afford healthier food because it is more expensive, yet he refuses to cook, spends a lot of money on a car loan he can't afford, new technology, and just recently spent ~$3800 to record an album for his band.
@RamenNinja, wow that twist got me at the end. I thought it was going the way of him having set himself up good to have a good disposable income and then that last part hit
@theshadosnipe, $100 every 2-3 weeks isn’t too bad on weed. I had a buddy that would spend like $200 a week on weed. That’s half his weekly paycheck atm.
I’m broke because Covid cut my $2k a month down to $1,200 and I am putting $800 towards bills and all the rest in savings, I used to have upward of $200 spending money a month and now I have to count quarters just to get a fountain soda.
I’m living the struggle by choice, I can’t not put money in savings during this time otherwise this years a total loss.
@YourMomRidesMeGood, I'll be honest, I'm not really sure what they spend on weed. Just that they're always broke, high, and complaining
@RamenNinja, that's hitting so close to home mate
@RamenNinja, "the working poor", and it's not just your generation, F
@RamenNinja, it’s every generation man.
I mean at that point you ain't got rent anyways. Might as well eat.
Wait... where/what can you rent for $584? In NYC you can get exactly nothing for this much. You can get chicken wings cheaper though
@Nooffence, any town an hour+ away from a city. NYC is one of the most expensive places to live, not exactly a good example lol
@snipesmcgeee, any town an hour away still won’t have close to that, haha. Try rural Ohio! (It’s where I am now!)
I agree. The people I used to work with would always go out and waster vast sums of their income after payday, then moan they had nothing for the month. I said they should wait to do that the day or even the week before payday, then you know how much you have before you get paid and after all your Bill's are paid (if you dont want to sit down and actually work it out). They were too lazy to do even that
@Albatraous, bars, strip clubs, dealers, casinos, etc., all get a big jump in traffic on paydays. The 1st, 10th, 25th, etc.
@mas2de, I know a lot of people fo it, just doesnt make sense to me. Why give yourself 1 day of pleasure than the rest of the month of stress?
