I think it's hilarious how much people busted on Ted Cruz before the election, but now that Trump is president they've change their minds. We got what we deserved
@TheAgent, I think it was either the daily show or last week tonight that pointed out that the Republican Party had one of the most able pool of candidates it has had in decades with one clown and they picked the goddamn clown
@TheAgent, policy wise though on the campaign, Donald Trump was much more appealing. He presented himself as a man for the working man, who will create jobs rebuild the country and not be interventionist. Those were lies.
Yes we did, but I doubt Ted Cruz is the answer
@Asian Invasian, I was just about to write the exact same thing
@Asian Invasian, the zodiac killer would be far better than trump
@Asian Invasian, don't worry, Ted will neveeeeer surrendeeeerrr
@Asian Invasian, Cruz is a very well-spoken, intelligent, and kind man. He just looks more awkward than a freshman with a boner in gym class
@Blargetha, I dunno, Trump has basically done nothing except for give tons of funding to nasa. And all the bad/controversial stuff he's done. Which there is a lot of.
But hey, there is a slight chance we'll see the stars up close and personal before we die now, that's worth something in my book.
@Ser Waffle Knight, I think we should be worrying more about our own planet first. People in power like Trump that deny climate change and roll back all of those bills that help protect the earth are helping destroy the planet
@K1lgore, I agree completely. I hate the coal bullshjt, we do need to look after our planet. Also, you may have overlooked the fact that I was being sarcastic, which I then emphasised by saying "all the bad/controversial stuff he's done. Which there is a lot of"
I just learned to expect bad stuff in my life and be pleasantly surprised when something not shjtty happens. Like NASA getting an 18 billion dollar annual budget.
@Ser Waffle Knight, Yeah, I agree with you as well. It's great that NASA is getting such great funding, but it doesn't make up for the other stuff
@K1lgore, absolutely doesn't make up for the other shjt, but it does give me back a tiny shred of hope that was ripped away when they stopped NASA's funding a little ways back.
@Asian Invasian, Kasich was the best Republican candidate in my opinion. But I could be biased since I live in Ohio and like him as a governor
@AnonymousCrab, didn't his own party members say he was an ass?
@stillnotginger, John Boehner once called him Lucifer. But then again Boehner was full of shjt so I guess that's not really saying much
@AnonymousCrab, he tried to ban dildos dude, he wants to repeal obamacare, he's corrupt as fvck and takes money from Goldman Sachs, he doesn't care about the people. He is literal human garbage. Seeming well spoken means nothing to anyone who cares about actually making America a better place.
@Aegislash, you have any proof for these claims? And btw, Obamacare is an unconstitutional mess, so yeah, he wants to repeal it
Repealing obama care will leave millions uninsured, and as a harvard study has determined, 45000 people die in the US every year from a lack of healthcare. So more dead people. yay.
It's almost as if the healthcare insurance companies have given him a sh!tload of cash.
@Aegislash, Your PBS source simply states a few of his political beliefs, such as getting the gov. out of private businesses, restoring states' privileges, and improving the budget. "Your solution to corruption, is more corruption." This is a hyperbolic statement and false to begin with. His proposed bill in 2014 would cause more transparency. Anyone is allowed to donate but everyone is able to see those donations and the contributors. Do you not like transparency is your government? I do. Obamacare is a mess. Here's a debate with Cruz and Sanders.
Notice that Bernie is always looking for pathos arguments or ethos arguments. Cruz uses statistics to show how Obamacare has failed and proposes new ideas to try. Watch it or don't. IDC. But do not make outrageous claims (ahem dildos ahem) that you can't back up.
@AnonymousCrab, lol Bernies first argument was for medicare for all, every other modern nation has this because its the best for the people. Why? The government cant deny anyone for pre-existing conditions leaving them uninsured. The government wont and cant refuse to pay out for someone who needs the coverage, meaning that less people will become bankrupt. And we know that medical bills in the U.s are the number one cause of bankruptcies. The government isnt incentived by profits either, but private insurance companies and ted are, thats why he wants to get rid of obamacare. He's a corporate shill. Ted claimed that premiums rose because of obamacare, but they are actually following a trend that began way before.
Watch this, the man knows what he's talking about. And keep in mind, under the current system, 45000 people die every year from a lack of access to healthcare. Doesnt happen in Canada. Also, for dildos, his legal team fought against them.
@Aegislash, Bandwagon fallacy. Just because other countries have that system, isn't justification for adopting it as our own. Additionally, those countries (i.e. Sweden, Finland, Denmark, etc.) have a population around 1/3 of ours which is a drastic difference in how any given program may succeed. Canada is a great example as well, showing how unmotivated hospitals are and how long you have to wait for any kind of treatment. It's common to have to wait for 2 years to have your own personal doctor. Many people just buy private insurance because the state ran healthcare is so deplorable. https://youtu.be/q2jijuj1ysw Medicare is failing at the moment, so how would it work for the entire country?
Premiums shot up after the ACA was enacted, despite the trends, and companies nearly doubled their profits on the ACA. Who exactly is the corporate shill then? 45000 is a specific stat. I would genuinely like to read about it. And please don't waste my time with Reddit posts and tweets, claiming them as evidence, like you did with the dildos. Please provide me with one example of a large, government ran social program that is successful. Meanwhile, check this link for some quick facts regarding the ACA. http://www.pnhp.org/sites/default/files/A%20Superior%20System%20-%202013.pdf
@Aegislash, The US has the most capitalist economy in the world. Trying to implement socialist policies in our economy will always be disaster. You can see that by how Obamacare has absolutely killed competition in the health care industry. Many regions in the country only have one health care provider available, giving companies monopolies in those regions. It's pretty obvious how giving monopolies to companies will end. The answer to our health care problem isn't socialism, it's capitalism. Without the monopolies that Obamacare created, companies would be free to compete with each other, which is how prices are driven down in a capitalist economy.
@CriTiKa1, leaving the market forces to do their thing on health insurance doesnt work, because the companies have the exact opposite incentive than what is required to take care of the American people. Spending less money on our foreign policy exploits which is what Bernie would do and putting it to healthcare would be best. Besides, private health insurance isnt better than medicare. With free healthcare, the sick are prioritized over those with money.
@AnonymousCrab, medicare prioritizes the sick, besides, voting in a progressive like Bernie would lead to a better healthcare system because unlike Cruz, he would be less interventionist and invest the money back into the people.
@Aegislash, Nope, it's a simple fact that the free market is much more efficient than the government. That's something you can't argue against. Nationalizing an industry always makes it susceptible to becoming bogged down by bureaucracy.
Look at car insurance. There is a healthy amount of competition in the car insurance market, which results in affordable prices. You can tell there's plenty of competition by the aggressive advertising campaigns car insurance companies run. Even the smaller firms are able to compete locally against the national ones.
Compare that with the health insurance markets. How many health insurance ads do you see a day? Maybe one. They don't need to advertise because there is no competition. Smaller firms can't compete with the larger ones because of Obamacare. It's killed competition in the market and we're now feeling the effects of it through higher than expected premiums.
@CriTiKa1, obamacare is still better than leaving people to die from a lack of coverage. The free market does not function effectively when it comes to health insurance because when they refuse to pay out, people are left in debt or sick. Like ive stated, it only makes sense for Healthcare to be provided through socialism with our tax money because the incentive structure for corporations is to not pay out, so even if their rates are lower, they might refuse someone who needs it (although they often price gauge the crap out of you). The best countries in the world for healthcare have free healthcare because it takes care of those who need it and leaves people with no debt. The only people that benefit from private health insurance are the corporations who refuse to pay out and keep your cash. Also the US has one of the worst healthcare systems of all modern nations. I wonder why?
@Aegislash, also look up Amy Vilela.
@Aegislash, It's not the market's job top take care of you, it's your own job. The companies incentive is to create a product that people want to buy more than their competitor, this raises quality and lowers prices, basic capitalism. No one is prioritized in the way that you may be implying. Companies don't plot the downfall of the poor during their board meetings. Medicare is running out of money, the entire country on it would be disastrous considering with have 320+ million people. And it is NOT the gov. job to take my money and spend it on me. I tis my job to work for my money, and take care of myself. And if Bernie, a career politician, is so concerned about the people, why doesn't he sell two of his three houses and donate it? Bernie is a hack who sold out to the same corrupt organization that fvcked him in the primaries.
@Aegislash, Those countries that have universal healthcare, which the ACA is not btw, are countries with 40 million citizens or less. It works for them because of their developed system. And if ACA is so great, then why does the US have one of the worst healthcare systems? Because it's a wreck and everyone knows it. And when a company fvcks you over, you know what you do? Take your money elsewhere, money talks in business. Also, you couldn't name a gov ran social program that has been successful in the long term. Food stamps, child support, etc have decimated poor, unmotivated families. The only thing the gov is good at is protecting us and putting out fires.
@Aegislash, Look, you have all these presuppositions about the ACA and Bernie and capitalism but all you know is what you've heard in the echo chamber. And echoes can get distorted very quickly. Anything someone says, research it. Anything the news claims, research it. Anything a politician states, research it. Meet the world with extreme skepticism and learn for yourself. Form your own well-informed opinion, don't just accept the one Rachel Maddow or Trevor Noah, or whoever, give you.
@Aegislash, Economists who study free markets have said that the free market is always more efficient than the government. This is in economic textbooks. You can't just say that it isn't true for this industry just because it doesn't fit your narrative. Your main argument is that companies will refuse to pay out. Well, this problem would be fixed if there were free markets. If a company refused to pay out repeatedly, they'd get a bad reputation. As a result they'd lose customers to competitors. But that doesn't happen now because they don't have competitors because of Obamacare. If health insurance companies had a healthy amount of competition, they'd be more than happy to pay out because it would boost their reputation and make them more attractive to consumers, giving them an edge against competitors. These problems have all arisen because of increased regulation and Obamacare.
@Aegislash, Those other countries are no where near as capitalist as the United States. You can't just say that socialist policies that worked over there will 100% work here. Here's a better system than any socialist system and than our current system. A free market. Why? Because it would benefit everybody. Consumers would have the benefit of having plenty of companies to choose from. There'd be many more companies competing, resulting in lower prices for consumers. In addition to this, the increased activity in this industry would create more jobs and more investment opportunities for venture capitalists. There would be no bureaucratic red tape, so services would be far more efficient than the same services in socialist countries. Consumers get lower prices and better services, companies get to openly compete, the industry expands.
@Aegislash, The problems in the health care industry have arisen because of increased government intervention. Giving the government more power over the industry isn't going to fix the problems that it created, it's just going to amplify them.
@Aegislash, thanks for the name btw, I'll definitely look her up. Try checking out Dave Ruben on youtube if you haven't already. He's a classical liberal who has a lot of interesting guests on his show and does some non-interview stuff as well. If you fancy yourself rather patient, then check out Steven Crowder or Ben Shapiro, too. They can be inflammatory a lot of the time, but they are honest and well meaning and always shoot for the truth rather than their personal political party.
Straight outta Congress
The only reason so many people are insured is because it's illegal not to have health insurance now. They are forcing citizens to pay for a private product. You wanna talk corrupt? How fishy is it that obamacare forces people to buy from a private company. And besides, their coverage is horrible in most cases, or costs an arm and a leg. Looking at your references now
I wish he actually had these tattoos. This would make an awesome campaign poster. 🇺🇸🦅
Lmao @ the title of this pic
