"Trump is not my president! "
-Are you American?
-Trump is your president.
@SWAT the fireman, it's not literal, it's representational. Yes, Trump is literally their president, but Trump is not representative of their views. That's what it means.
@Ruupasya, I understand that. But for the last 8 years, we've had a president that opposes my views on almost every hot issue. I've never once said he's not my president. I may not agree with him, but I've always respected his position. I had a Chief over me once that, when I was hired as a police officer, he told me, "you may not like me, as a person, but you WILL respect my office. " And that bodes that same for any position of authority.
Fyi, this was an orientation meeting. It wasn't a response to anything I did or said.
@SWAT the fireman, I agree, im a very liberal person but the whole "not my president" thing is stupid
Can everyone calm down with Trump being president? There have been numerous presidents that people didn't like but we're still here. There's also this thing called Checks and Balances you no one person has too much power. Sometimes people just have to swallow their pride and accept the results and learn to get over it. We can get through anything as a country but only if we stand together, there's no point in wasting our efforts over something that happens every four years
@Gladiator, I completely agree, did I vote for him? No but these people are taking it way too far it's not like he's going to destroy the country
@Gladiator, People would be less concerned if Congress wasn't a Republican majority. Republican Congress + Trump for president = partisan checks and balances. Fortunately most Republicans are more reasonable than Trump, however, this current administration is a recipe for legislation that could be very bad for many people.
@Ruupasya, what people could it be bad for? Illegal aliens? People who don't want to work? Who else?
@Ruupasya, They voted in a Republican Congress as well, and that wasn't even a close vote. We just had a democratic period and now the pendulum swings the other way, it keeps the government from going to far towards one party. In two years that may change, but that depends on how the nation feels. Because there are a lot more people who aren't protesting.
@Gladiator, many people have concerns about him eroding checks and balances. He tries to undercut anything in his way, and I think it's naive to assume he'll stop at the balance of government.
@Gladiator, I think it's because they let Obama get away with so much, now all of a sudden the power is in the hands of someone they don't like lol
@Gladiator, the reason he's being discussed so much is because he is the first meme to become President of the USA.
@Gladiator, let me preface my reply by saying I agree, it's an unavoidable cycle and here are systems in place to prevent catastrophe. That being said, protest (at least peaceful protest) is an extremely effective way for people to communicate their displeasure with a system they may otherwise feel they have no control over. If you write a letter to your congressman/woman, then what? You probably don't receive any concrete proof they even read it. If you call, you probably get an intern. And let's say you do get through to them, that's one person in a large system. But whether the new administration does anything or not, protests like the marches that took place not just in this country but around the world, then they know there are issues people want addressed. Yes it's true, there are people who dislike presidents every election. There are protests every election. I say as long as they do it peacefully, let them protest. Let the government know that the people want to be heard.
@Gladiator, Plus does no one remember that one actor who was a big part in tearing down the Berlin Wall? Ronald Reagan. REAGAN SMASH
@Gladiator, Then have you not heard his plans for the internet? Something along the lines of allowing ISP's to charge you more for going to certain websites, and *that* I am not cool with. Additionally, he is dangerously close to an internet kill switch, which I am also not cool with. I don't care what the reasons, don't mess with my already overpriced internet =(
@Quantum Mechanic, So, just tossing this out there, but no matter how badly he might want to erode something, he really can't. Even with a Republican majority in both houses, they don't have enough seats to pass legislation alone. In addition, there were a good number of Republican senators that took a firm stance against him and his policies. Nothing he does will change the way law works, unless he pulls a Palpatine.
@Gladiator, I honestly think it's because of how far technology and memes have advanced
@Gladiator, people forget that it's not just that single person you voted for but the political party as a whole. Who cares who the puppet is.
@Gladiator, President Trump doesn't scare me. His cabinet picks scare me.
@HiroAntagonist, the man is a serial rapist. Do you think he's above pulling a Palpatine?
@Quantum Mechanic, There's never been any evidence of that whatsoever. Find some and it'll stop being an ad hominem attack and people might take you seriously.
@Barry Dylan, i just keep looking for puns. Disappointed.
@Smo Queed, Sorry didn't mean to pun-ish you for looking... I Republican still make a pun, if you even give a democrap.
@HiroAntagonist, his ex wife and at least two teenagers have either filed reports or said as much under oath. I don't know how much more evidence I can provide. He bragged openly about assault; are you really saying you'd doubt that he's raped before?
@Quantum Mechanic, Ex-wives are always 100% truthful, as are teenagers. That's why all these movie and music stars are in jail with their dozens and dozens of accusations each year. He never bragged openly about anything. He said something extremely vulgar in a private conversation that was then made public. What I (or you) feel or how I (or you) think is all well and good. But there are not verified and corroborated facts to go along with your accusations. Therefore it is plain character assassination and isn't worthy of consideration.
@HiroAntagonist, don't you get it man? Any accusation made against someone you don't like is always 100% truthful. And if you like the guy, the accuser lied about it. Quantum Mechanic doesn't like Trump, so he obviously committed every rape accusation made against him.
He kinnnnddaaaa is
I'm a democrat but I feel like the 'not my president' argument is a waste. If they'd waited for Trump's first couple of days in office, then he'd have given them some concrete things to complain about.
I'd rather protest what he's doing than the man himself.
@FullxTilt, all the protestors are saying they're angry and I'm very confused on what they're angry about
@JJD2016, they are angry that a man like trump has become president, a racist misogynistic compulsive liar now represents the United States
Fun fact, trumps appointee to the FCC wants to get rid of net neutrality
@brickmaster8, Bye bye funnypics
Him smiling makes me uncomfortable
What was he sprinkling?
@Slothanas, s a l t

Because Angie is my chancellor. 😎
